Christian Academy provides an unparalleled quality of education for
children aged 2 years through High School. The academic philosophy
provides well
defined activities for every critical area of development including language,
math, social studies, foreign languages, and science enhanced by an environment
of low student to teacher ratios.
FCA provides:
- Pre-school through High school
- A comprehensive five-day private school schedule for preschool through eighth grade
- Two and three-day academic and enrichment classes for home school students through High School.
Preschool through third grade students are provided the
benefit of the A Beka phonics-based curriculum and Excel Math.
Students in fourth grade through middle school
receive a classical "History Timeline" to drive the curriculum for Language
Arts and Science. Robust and interactive activities and experiments are integrated
between History, Language Arts, Science and Literature. Curriculum includes
Excel Math, Veritas Press History, A Beka Science, A Beka Language and Andrew
Puduwa's Excellence in Writing and Excellence in Spelling.
Tuesday/Thursday
Enrichment classes include Spanish, Music, Bible, Drama/Puppets, Physical
Education, Art, and Multi Media Productions.
The Accelerated Teaching
Method developed by Jeanine McGregor is the foundation of FCA's academic programs.
Prior to enrollment, placement testing is required for students in
Transitional K/4 through Junior High. Based on the results,
students are prescribed an Independent Study with the goal of successfully
completing Spelling, Reading, and Math prior to the academic year end.
This proactive approach creates built in mastery which:
- promotes students "ahead of the timeline",
- allows them to begin the next level of curriculum prior to the end of the academic year,
- and enables them to achieve early mastery at multiple levels within their peer group class.
This model also provides discretionary time for mastery
skill development when students encounter a learning plateau.
The result enables students to operate above grade
level, which is conducive to higher Standardized Testing scores.
