children aged 2 years through Middle School. The academic philosophy provides
well defined activities for every critical area of development including
language, math, social studies, foreign languages, and science enhanced by an
environment of low student to teacher ratios.
FCA provides:
The Accelerated Teaching Method developed by Jeanine McGregor is
the foundation of FCA's academic programs. Prior to enrollment, placement
testing is required for students in Kindergarten through Middle School. Based on
the results, students are prescribed an Independent Study with the goal of
successfully completing Reading, and Math and beginning the following grade
level in those subject areas prior to the academic year end. This
proactive approach creates built in mastery which:
- promotes
students "ahead of the timeline",
- allows
them to begin the next level of curriculum prior to the end of the
academic year,
- and
enables them to achieve early mastery at multiple levels within their peer
group class.
This
model also provides discretionary time for mastery skill development when
students encounter a learning plateau. The result enables students to operate
above grade level, which is conducive to higher Standardized Testing scores.
